Pain Psychology

Unlike traditional psychologists, our Pain Psychologists have special expertise in helping patients with chronic pain. They will work with you to down-regulate your nervous system and retrain your pain response.

Anxiety, depression, stress and past traumas may also be contributing to your pain, so these are addressed as well.

FAQs

How much does it cost to see a pain psychologist?

A 50-minute session with a pain psychologist costs $230, or $208 for app subscribers. Medicare rebates are available with a valid mental health treatment plan. We can also provide invoices for claims through private health or NDIS

Who are your pain psychologists and how do the sessions work?

Our Pain Psychologists are registered and clinical psychologists who have a special interest in working with people who live with ongoing pain, as well as associated mood disorders. Sessions with a Pain Psychologist are booked in advance and conducted over video call. They can give you tailored care and work with you through any issues that may be causing you distress and adding to your pain experience.

Can I try the psychologist out once before committing to ongoing sessions?

Absolutely! We know how important it is to have a rapport with a psychologist. There is no obligation to book in for multiple sessions. Have your first session and then decide if it's a good fit.

Can your psychologists also treat other mental health conditions I am experiencing?

Our psychologists are experienced at supporting individuals with all their mental health conditions including trauma, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders.

Expert Physiotherapy for Pain Management

Unlike traditional physiotherapists, our expert pain physiotherapists specialise in helping with chronic pain, and will guide you through a process that builds your capacity to move more freely and enjoy the activities you love without pain.

Rather than using hands-on treatment, they take a strategic approach to refine your movement patterns, which is why all appointments are via video call.

Rebates may be available through Medicare (with a Chronic Disease Management Plan), private health insurance, and select workers’ compensation schemes.

FAQs

How Do Virtual Telehealth Physio Appointments Work?

Virtual Telehealth appointments allow you to consult a physiotherapist via video call from the comfort of home. In your appointment, the physiotherapist will evaluate your particular situation by taking a comprehensive medical history, and observing how you move. Once your condition is assessed your physiotherapist will suggest a treatment regimen aimed at helping you achieve your specific goals.

How can telehealth physio be effective?

These days, most physiotherapists rather than relying on a "hands on" approach prefer to focus on education, taking a whole person approach to determine what may be causing your issue. This together with a unique program created with your goals in mind allows you to be an active participant in your own rehabilitation. Being able to attend the session from home can also make it more convenient for you and make you more inclined to stick with sessions and treatment.

What technology or platform do I need for our virtual appointment?

In order to attend a telehealth physio appointment you'll just need stable internet and you'll click on the link provided in your appointment confirmation email on your computer, ipad or phone. You won't need to install additional software.

What do I need from my GP in order to be eligible for a medicare rebate?

You'll need a chronic disease management plan (previously called an enhanced care plan). This qualifies you for a rebate of $60.35 for up to 5 physio sessions per calendar year

Coaching

Our Support Coaches live with chronic pain and have learned to successfully manage their symptoms using evidence-based approaches.

You and your coach will decide what topic would be valuable for you to go deeper on during the session.

Sonja Smout
Coach
Sonja is a MoreGoodDays success story. Diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2012, she had to stop working as a veterinarian. She spent 10 years learning to manage her condition with limited resources and information. After a LOT of trial and error, she started improving instead of going backwards. She became a marriage celebrant at the end of 2019, which turned out to be not the best timing to start a celebrant business!

FAQs

Who are the support coaches?

Our Support Coaches are all alumni of the MoreGoodDays® program who understand first hand what it's like to live with chronic pain. They have learned to manage their pain (and often other conditions) and are trained in our evidence-based approach. They are not clinicians and do not provide medical advice or recommend particular treatments.

Your Support Coach will provide a safe and positive space for you throughout your journey with MoreGoodDays®.

How does coaching work?

You can book sessions with your Coach whenever you need them for an additional cost. These sessions can be used to create a personalized recovery plan for you, to help you get the most out of the program or you can choose to use the time to go deeper into a particular program topic.

Sessions can be conducted by Google Meet video calls or phone – whatever you prefer. For video calls simply click the link that we provide. You can also reach out to your Coach via text message or email should you need guidance or support along the way.
